tow row

Judy Watson’s sculpture outside QAGOMA is a reimagined Aboriginal fishing net, locally known as a ‘tow row’. They were used to catch fish near the river banks and creeks.

She says, “I want people to really look through it and see the river, see Kurilpa Point, and realise this was a major meeting place. This was actually the place where everyone was coming in from north, south and the west, and the islands as well, to meet in Brisbane.”
