Perverse spectator sport

“At the end of Kurilpa Street is an outdoor gym, BBQ area, shed, and basketball court. The 2022 water level was over the roof of the shed, up to the basketball hoop. All manner of effluent was floating by, including bags of dog poo. Some people had set up deck chairs with drink holders at the end of Jane Street to see the flood. We saw a pontoon with a house on it flowing past at great speed. Seemed a perverse spectator sport but I joined in as well. Felt guilt but couldn’t resist the awesome power of the Brisbane River.”
