Rotterdam’s floodable square

Rotterdam’s Benthemplein water square is a sunken public plaza and basketball court. During rainfall, it becomes storage basins for stormwater. The water square provides a dynamic place for young people to play. Blue paint indicates what area flood and stainless steel indicates passages for water to travel.
