What type of flood are you at risk to?
There are three common types of flood in Queensland. Local overland flow flooding is water that runs across the ground after heavy rain. Creek flooding is caused by heavy rainfall in the local catchments and can cause flash flooding around waterways. River flooding is caused when widespread, prolonged rain falls over the river catchment area. This causes high flows of water to rise over river banks, sometimes occurring downstream days after the rain has stopped.
