West End Community House

The West End Community House (WECH) was established in 1983. It provides a space for people to meet, use facilities, create connections, learn new things and access support. WECH helps to build stronger, connected communities within West End and the Kurilpa. Over the first three weeks of the 2011 floods, WECH provided 15 volunteers to immediately assist the flood response. They harnessed hundreds of hours of local resident volunteerism to collect and distribute local donations. WECH’s existing local relationships and knowledge helped to identify and support vulnerable and hard-hit residents.
