Water got in anyway

“In 2011, I lived on Exeter Street. My whole street lost power for 5 days. Many of us hadn’t been here for the 1970’s floods. The old Boundary Hotel was the place to go, they had a generator and kept the vibe going for many who couldn’t go to work. There were so many places full of mud. I have never seen the water rise so high up Hoogley Street. Many people were doing the rounds each day taking photos and helping each other out. West End Uniting Church set up quick flood recovery with Centrelink disaster payments. Many people lost a lot of stuff and many apartments underwent their first basement flooding. Lots of businesses grabbed sand bags to lessen the impact, but water got in any way.”
