If in doubt, do another job

“Never remove belongings from a flooded house without explicit permission from the tenant. In 2011, an owner of a house asked me to clear out a house post flood. After we cleaned, we realised that the tenant was not present. We had removed all of their flood damaged belongings. I still think about the devastation that the tenant would have felt, returning to an empty house with their belongings on the street. If in doubt, do another job (clean driveways, deliver food/drink).”
