How can we support new residents?

“During the 2011 floods I was new to Brisbane and had only been living in Paradise Street for 7 weeks. I knew no one. Residents initially gathered on the south end of Boundary Street and kindly enquired if we had what they needed to make a cuppa, if we had food, gas bottles, etc. Looking back this was such a simple but powerful gesture. I was lucky no floodwater came into the apartment but went 8 days without power which was fine as I had a gas bottle and potable BBQ.”
