From recovery hub to Koori Kitchen

The Koori Mail in Lismore is the oldest Aboriginal owned and run newspaper in Australia. During the 2022 floods, the head office was inundated then quickly turned into a recovery hub and kitchen. Community members supported the team to distribute donations, food, and services to residents for months after. In 2023, the team decided to build a community centre and cafe for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to continue connecting in a culturally safe space.
