Disasters amplify inequalities

Climate disasters can amplify inequalities and compound existing trauma. Some groups may experience more negative impacts, such as low-income households, renters, women, people of colour, people with disabilities, elderly people, immigrants, and international student. This is because they may have access to fewer resources and savings to recover. They may also rely on under-resourced public services, disrupted community services, or have limited support networks.
