An island that residents were unable to escape

“Areas in Kurilpa become islands during flooding as stormwater covers roads when it is unable to run into the swollen Brisbane River. In 2022, flooding on Montague Rd and Melbourne St created an island that residents were unable to drive out of. These residents drove in loops, trying to find a way to escape with their families and belongings. It was traffic chaos.”
