2022 flood
In February 2022, Brisbane received 80% of the city’s average annual rainfall in 72 hours. Much rain fell downstream of the Wivenhoe Dam. Changing weather scenarios changed the predicted flood heights 5 times over 11 hours. The river peaked in the city at 3.85 metres. The flood killed 13 people and impacted 23,400 properties. The Brisbane City Council estimated the flood cost a total cost as $656 million.
