Tourists may further displace local flood survivors

Floods can displace people from their homes, forcing them into temporary accommodation. This can last for days or months as homes are rebuilt. In the Northern Rivers region, the arrival of Easter holiday tourists triggered the eviction of flood survivors from temporary accommodation. Building relationships and agreements with the tourism industry, Airbnb and accommodation providers can help prioritise the needs of local disaster survivors over tourists.
