Council evacuation centres beyond reach

“I lost power and had to evacuate because I needed to keep my medication cold and to charge my wheelchair. I started calling around to get help, causing my mobile to quickly run out of battery and my landline was down. The two Council evacuation centres were beyond my reach because the roads were flooded. There was nowhere else I could go. One of my support workers who lives nearby helped me move to a hotel on Cordelia Street. The next morning it flooded from four storm water drains. I had to be carried over the water and my chair followed. I went to another hotel in Woolloongabba and returned home after several days.”
